Ford is redesigning its most important SUVs this year and the new 2020 Ford Explorer is certainly no exception. The brand-new 2020 Ford Explorer features more interior space and better performance paired with a new design that will surely turn heads. There’s even a new ST performance model and a new Explorer Hybrid model.
Regardless of which Ford Explorer model you ultimately purchase, you will enjoy a much more engaging drive thanks to the new Explorer’s rear-biased architecture. "Explorer drivers told us what they wanted: more capacity, power and space," said Hau Thai-Tang, director of product development and purchasing at Ford. “The whole family wants to have access to more technology. She also wants everything to be combined with a beautiful, sporty exterior. This new model exceeds expectations and makes each walk even more enjoyable."
The new 2020 Ford Explorer comes with a standard 2.3-litre four-cylinder that delivers 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. An available 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 that delivers 365 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. In the ST model, the engine delivers 400 horsepower.
"We did everything we could to find out what customers wanted," said Bill Gubing, Chief Engineer of the Explorer. "We have formed focus groups, browsed online forums and analyzed social media posts to find out what customers think about the strengths and weaknesses of the current Explorer. We then found solutions to improve everything. Each modification of this new model has been inspired by our customers."
There’s more technology in the new Explorer as well. Safety is improved with the new Ford CoPilot360 suite of active safety technologies, there’s access to Wi-Fi, and even a new central touchscreen that makes navigating the Explorer’s numerous functions very easy.
