Multiple engine options for the 2022 Ford Escape
It all starts under the hood. Once again, the 2022 Ford Escape still offers plenty of engine options, more than most of its rivals. The 2022 Ford Escape is powered by a standard 1.5-litre EcoBoost four-cylinder engine that produces 180 horsepower. For a standard engine, that's not bad at all. It's even quite a bit better than what you'll find in most Ford Escape rivals.
The other engine option is a 2.0-litre EcoBoost four-cylinder engine that offers 250 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque! As was the case with the previous Ford Escape, this engine is among the most powerful in its class. It can tow up to 3,500 lbs.
The Escape PHEV and its powerful hybrid engine
A hybrid engine and even a plug-in hybrid engine are available. The Escape PHEV can travel up to 48 kilometres in 100% electric mode and requires only 3.5 hours to recharge. Other changes to the Ford Escape include the addition of better cargo capacity, which now reaches 1,062 litres. That's a lot more than the old Escape and makes Ford's new compact SUV one of the roomiest compact SUVs in its class.
It's also one of the safest with an array of top-notch onboard safety technologies. This includes the Ford CoPilot 360 system, which offers several driver assistance features. The new Escape also offers new technologies such as a collision-avoidance system, a parking assist system, and a 12.3-inch all-digital instrument panel.
