The all-new and completely redesigned Ford Escape features two new hybrid versions, making the new 2020 Ford Escape one of the few sport utility vehicles to come with a hybrid powertrain. The advantages of such an engine in terms of fuel economy are second to none. You can enjoy all of the interior space and the impressive versatility of a new Ford Escape along with the fuel economy of a compact sedan.

Unlike other sport utility vehicles with a hybrid engine, the 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid doesn’t compromise on interior space to improve efficiency. The new Ford Escape features over 1,000 litres of cargo space regardless of the engine under the hood. The new 2020 Escape Hybrid also offers a sliding rear seat that can be adjusted to deliver more interior space or more cargo space depending on your needs.

Powering the 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid is a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder Atkinson Cycle hybrid engine that delivers 198 horsepower after being paired with an electric motor. The Escape Hybrid can reach up to 137 km/h without using the gas engine.

And then there’s the Ford Escape Hybrid PHEV. It features an even more powerful battery that allows it to drive up to 43 kilometres without using a single drop of fuel. That means most of your daily commute can be completed without using gas! Imagine how much you’ll save at the end of the year! The 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid has a range of drive modes including:

  • In Auto EV mode, the vehicle decides whether to run on gas or electric power
  • In EV Now mode, drivers can operate on all-electric driving
  • In EV Later mode, drivers can switch to full gas-powered driving to conserve electric kilometres for later
  • In all-new EV Charge mode, drivers can continue to charge the battery while driving and generate electric-only kilometres to use later
